Information on Hull
Pottery
The A. E. Hull Pottery was formed in 1905 in Zanesville Ohio.  By
1920 they were manufacturing a full line of stoneware and art
pottery.  By the mid 1930’s interest in art pottery was growing
and several lines of matte pastel floral decorated patterns were
produced.  The plant was destroyed in 1950 by a flood which
caused the kilns to explode.
The Hull factory was rebuilt but the matte glaze was not
duplicated.  The company decided to concentrate on high-gloss
artware.  The firm closed in 1985.
